What's The Story?: Eadie & Crole x Lorfords Contemporary
At Lorfords Contemporary, collaboration is at the heart of what we do. We’re proud to work alongside some of the most talented designers in the industry - those who share our passion for timeless design, craftsmanship and a respect for materials. This autumn, we’re delighted to be unveiling something particularly special: the very first upholstery collection from interior design studio Eadie & Crole, created exclusively with us. This trio of original, handcrafted designs marks an exciting new chapter for Sophie Eadie (above left) and Fi Crole (above right), shown with Lorford Contemporary's MD Nasia de la Haye. Known for their instinctive eye for colour, pattern, and proportion, the duo have distilled the spirit of their upcoming AW25 fabric launch, The Mary Collection, into three versatile and enduring pieces: The Chapel Armchair, The Annabel Sofa and The Lavender Bench.
A Shared Design Philosophy
From the very beginning, this collaboration felt instinctive. We’ve worked with Sophie and Fi for years on private client projects, and their design ethos mirrors our own: an emphasis on comfort, proportion, and integrity, underpinned by a love of craftsmanship and sustainability.
Like us, Eadie & Crole are committed to working with natural, responsibly sourced materials that don’t compromise on comfort or durability. Each piece in the collection is handmade to order, using an FSC-certified beech frame and an intelligent blend of all-natural fillings - from calico, hemp, jute, and cotton webbing to natural latex foam. At the centre of it all is British wool: naturally breathable, fire resistant, and wonderfully supportive, it anchors the collection as both a practical and conscious choice.
A Trio of Timeless Designs
The three debut pieces are united by an elegance that balances tradition with contemporary living. Each design has its own story: The Chapel Armchair, with its gently flared arms and balanced silhouette, draws on a pair of antique chairs Sophie acquired years ago - reimagined for today with versatility and modern proportions.
The Annabel Sofa is a study in relaxed elegance, defined by soft curves and a single bench cushion inspired by the joyful chaos of Sophie’s three children at home.
The Lavender Bench, originally designed by Fi for her own kitchen, has been adapted into a compact, versatile piece - ideal for hallways, bedrooms, dining nooks, or small city spaces. Though distinct in form, the pieces are designed to live beautifully together, unified by their craftsmanship, comfort, and effortless adaptability.
Celebrating Fabric & Form
The collection also gives us a first glimpse of The Mary Collection, Eadie & Crole’s AW25 fabric range. Shown here in ‘Agnes’, ‘Iris’ and ‘Nancy’, the textiles are bold yet timeless, designed to flow seamlessly across each piece. They demonstrate just how transformative fabric can be: the same chair or sofa can feel entirely different in a delicate floral or a rich, grounding plain. This marriage of fabric and form is what makes the collaboration so exciting. Every design has the bones of a future heirloom - rooted in craftsmanship and comfort - but with endless scope for reinvention through colour and pattern.
A Creative Partnership
For us, working with Sophie and Fi on their debut collection has been a joy. Their instinctive approach to design and their passion for sustainability resonate deeply with our own values. More than that, this collaboration has allowed us to experiment together, exploring new materials, forms, and details always with the shared goal of creating furniture that is both beautiful and enduring.
“We were thrilled when Lorfords approached us for this collaboration. The entire process, from start to finish, has been a genuine joy. What we love about Lorfords Contemporary is the shared attention to detail - but just as importantly, there’s a deep understanding that every piece they create carries a strong commitment to longevity. - Sophie Eadie & Fi Crole, Founders of Eadie & Crole
“It’s always inspiring to collaborate with designers whose work is so admired across the industry. Their pieces complement our offering effortlessly - rooted in British craftsmanship, timeless silhouettes, and versatility. We’re so proud to bring their first collection to life.” - Nasia de la Haye, Managing Director, Lorfords Contemporary
